I wanted to take a moment to share a quick story with you. Our neighbors, I’ll call them J&B, have been great neighbors in the 4+ years that we’ve been here. They’re slightly older than us but we share so many similarities it’s scary.

Anyway, hunting season started here not long ago and we hadn’t seen J or B in a while. I thought J was most likely out hunting everyday and B has been traveling to Pitt to tend to her sister who just had surgery. Kandy had a client in at her salon a few weeks back that relayed a story about J. Turns out that the Monday before Election Day, J was in the backyard raking leaves. He had sudden chest pain and ran up to get B and dial 911. The ambulance picks him up and our hospital is [really] 2 blocks away. Turns out the ER doc had a case just like this a month earlier. What looked like a heart attack was actually a Dissecting Aorta. Very, very serious. Life threatening. J was life-flighted to a hopital 1.5 hours away. He was there for almost a month after emergency surgery saved him. No he’s on the long road to recovery.

Tonight, I found out that J was home. I went over to the house and B answered the door. J was fast asleep in his chair so I handed B the envelope that had a gift certificate inside, from us, for a portrait session and print of their choice. B broke down in tears and soon after, I followed. I’ve been on a real kick since reading Mr. Arias’ post a few months back about his stepdad. You can browse back through our posts for the past few months and you’ll see a few about “photographing those you love”.

We can’t wait till J recovers and is strong enough and we can then fulfill our promise to them. Photos will follow.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year…

Mom & Dad came up from Florida for Thanksgiving week and ohhhhh, was it a busy week. The 22nd was Mom’s birthday, then turkey day, then the 29th was my birthday. Lots of food, lots of family & friends, lots of fun. Mom & Dad then headed to NY to see “the other son” [hehe] for a week. They returned to our place this past Sunday evening. Once they settled in, we decided to exchange gifts so we could make sure everything fit as they should. After the gift exchange, we then decided to have some fun since I had the camera out. Anyway, here’s a few shots of us playing around. We hope you enjoy them…

First up are Mom & Dad. I was looking for little items around the house and found these right in our living room. Only problem was… I didn’t have my glasses on so I didn’t read the plate I handed Dad. It says “it takes a few extra rolls to make a good mid-section”. Well, Dad read it and bust out laughing as we all did. If you look closely, you can see the tag on Dad’s shirt

Then it was my turn. I bought this plate for Kandy last year. I think it says it all…

I now had the camera back firmly in my hands as Kandy & Mom sat on the floor and the dogs [3] joined in. The Westie is Mulligan and belongs to the parents and the other two are ours – Dakota [Belgian Sheepdog] in the center and Cheyenne [a Cockapoo] is with Kandy…

I think this last photo is self-explanatory Even at 78, he’s still got it

Thank you so much Mom & Dad for playing along. It was fun to say the least. Love you guys…
